Well-known for its uncompromising vastness and countryside variegation, there are many things to do in El Paso, Texas. The sheer diversity in food and culture makes it an outstanding US destination.  The spate of up and coming land development is attracting high-quality businesses and city services to meet the needs of the growing population.

As one would expect from all this, there are plenty of things to do in El Paso – from experiencing the incomparable range of palates to the bustling night life in certain locations within the city. What follows are a handful of examples every visitor should experience.

Partake in the Food

A couple of Mexican cities are literally a stone’s throw away from El Paso Proper, which makes for a dazzlingly delicious food culture. In fact, the scene is hardly relegated to Mexican cuisines. There is also Mediterranean food from the locally famous ZINO’S Greek Restaurant, which has a 4.5 out of 5 star rating on Tripadvisor.com.

Among others tantalizing delectables, you will also find Italian, French and varieties of Asian cuisine at any of the numerous eateries that line the El Paso walkways. Healthy servings of delicious Mexican food are available at L&J Café, Carlos & Mickey’s, and many others.

A Historic State with Scenic Drives

Outdoors-types adore El Paso’s many sites for bonding with and experiencing Nature. Franklin Mountains State Park can be tackled by beginners and veterans of the hiking trails alike. Hueco Tanks State Park is popular enough to warrant reservations beforehand, and was the site of the first Texan settlers. Often described as a “fun and interesting trail” by locals and out-of-towners alike, Thousand Steps Trail is a must-hike spot for adventurers.

For the indoors-types, another one of the many things to do in El Paso is visiting the many museums – such as the Holocaust Museum, the Museum of Art, or the Archeological Museum. Keystone Heritage Park and Botanical Garden is worth the leisurely stroll through a well-maintained event site – perhaps after lunch.
